Village of Greenville
SERVICE:
Visual Identity Design, Marketing
The Town of Greenville was looking to rebrand as the Village of Greenville. We went back to the roots of the community. Taking that inspiration, we made sure the brand experience pays homage to the past generations, while being timeless for the generations to come.
This project was awarded a winner for the 2022 Graphic Design Awards from Graphic Design USA.
CREATIVE DIRECTION
Pulling from the Roots
The old logo was mainly a seal that consisted of illustrations of family, farming, the Appleton airport, industrial life, and the state of Wisconsin. It was a lot jammed into one little circle, and broke about every principle of logo practicality. This was a problem and to focus on the solution, we needed to focus on one thing. One big idea that would encapsulate all of these in a more abstract but inspiring thought that the community could stand behind.
Found in the archives, there was a document from The Sesquicentennial History Committee that showed the true beginnings of the community. This is where the true inspiration was. To sum it up, the village of named after the early settlers building their homes on “the rolling green hills.”
From there, we used this strong image to lay the foundation of the positioning, messaging, and identity.
