Southpaw was contacted by Peace Lutheran Church & School to organize and rebrand the branches to be perceived as Peace Lutheran Ministries as an umbrella brand; with the Church, School, and Early Childhood Center as the three unified entities.
CREATIVE DIRECTION
Identifying the Abstract
“Peace” is a rather abstract term. A dove was chosen as the identifier to for Peace Lutheran Ministries to lay into the cliché to be easily recognized, but done uniquely to stand apart from most common depictions, brands, and ministries.
The primary logo mark relied on strategic positioning of the dove with the wings coming forward for a unique look and to hide a “P” in the overall shape. The fill is executed with gradients to also illustrate a modern and updated identity.
BRAND HIERARCHY
Umbrella Wingspan
The overarching Peace Lutheran Ministries entity receives its own mark for applications of generalization as seen as the olive branch, and then the Church, School, and Early Childhood Center all receive their own icon and assigned color to set them apart while still being unified under the umbrella brand.
Supporting Elements
No brand is complete without supporting elements that keep the consistency and practicality for the identity.
The Peace brand keeps the familiar blue and green palette but also accompanied with other touch points such as arrows and shape treatments.
Bringing It All Together
Using all of the supporting graphic elements together, the visual identity presents a consistent and engaging brand experience.
This identity was designed in tandem with the school’s athletics rebrand - Defender’s Athletics.
